Bronze to West and drama on the track on Day 3 of the Athletics at Glasgow 2026

30 July 2026 A dramatic day on the track on Day 3 of the Athletics and Para Athletics at the Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026, with Australia bringing home bronze.

Tori West takes home bronze in the Heptathlon, scoring 6104 after climbing the placings throughout the two day competition, bolstered by personal bests in the Long Jump and 800m. New Zealand’s Maddie Wilson also crossed the 6000 point barrier, finishing 5th with 6005 points. Mia Scerri placed 7th with 5996 points and Briana Stephenson 9th with 5843 points.

The drama filled T54 1500m final result is still subject to protests from race participants. Final confirmation of results will determine whether Australia adds another bronze to their medal tally on Day 3 of the Athletics and Para Athletics.

Opening the day, the qualification rounds saw New Zealand duo Tom Walsh and Nick Palmer lead Jonathan Detageouwa (NRU) and Penisimani Taeiloa (TGA) into the Men’s Shot Put Final.

The drama filled One Mile heats saw the Australian trio of Adam Spencer, Cameron Myers and Oliver Hoare all progress to the final. Spencer and Myers qualified on the track, while Hoare was reinstated after being collided with from behind during his heat. New Zealand distance star Sam Tanner also qualified for the final, from the first semi-final. Jiuteis Robinson shattered the Papua New Guinean Mile record in 4:19.14, placing 12th in his heat.

The 200m Heats saw Australians Lachlan Kennedy, Mia Gross and Monique Hanlon progress to the semi-finals, where they will meet automatic qualifiers Calab Law, Aidan Murphy and Torrie Lewis. Vanuatu’s Chloe David posted a personal best time in the heats but will not progress through.
