Team Vanuatu set to light up the track in Darwin

Team Vanuatu has been named for the 2026 Oceania Athletics Championships in Darwin, with a group of sprinters and emerging talent ready to make their mark on the track.

Olympian and World Championships representative Chloe David leads the senior squad, lining up in the 100m and 200m. The national 60m record holder brings experience to the team and will be joined by her sister, Claudie David, as the pair continue to close in on Vanuatu’s sprint records after strong performances at the recent Australian Athletics Championships.

“Representing Vanuatu at the Oceania Athletics Championships is truly an honour,” Chloe said.

“I am always proud to wear my nation’s colours on the track, knowing that every step I take is for my nation and everyone who supports me.”

Rizon Leo Rara arrives in form after a busy stretch of competition. Fresh off claiming the national title, he followed it up with a personal best in the 100m at the Australian Athletics Championships, building momentum heading into Darwin.

Phillip Nausien, who represented Vanuatu at the Pacific Mini Games, will also contest the 200m, adding further depth to the sprint group.

The team also features rising talents Jimmy Jenika and Viviana Tokio, both part of the next wave of Vanuatu athletics making their way onto the regional stage.

With a mix of experience and developing athletes, Team Vanuatu heads to Darwin looking to continue its growth and presence across Oceania competition.
