Portugal hosted the Sports Union for Athletes with Down Syndrome (SU-DS) World Championships in Athletics from 14th – 16th October 2017.
For the first time Australia took part in the event sending Brisbane Athlete Andre Rivett, who competed in the Javelin, Shot Put and Discus. Andre is a familiar face in the Athletics scene in Queensland, regularly competing in local, national and international competitions, such as the 2016 Melanesian Championships in Fiji.
On the World stage Andre finished 2nd in the Shot Put and Discus and 5th in the Javelin coming close to his Personal Bests in all disciplines. Coming home with two Silver Medals at World Championships the 20-year-old thrower is celebrating a great success.
Congratulations!
