The Marshall Islands will be represented by a single athlete at the 2026 Oceania Athletics Championships in Darwin, with Olympian William Reed set to take on a busy program across sprint and field events.

Reed will compete in the 100m, high jump and long jump in the Senior events.

Currently based in the United States for his studies, Reed holds the Marshall Islands National Records in both the long jump (6.51m) and high jump (1.90m) and will be aiming to push those marks further in Darwin.

His progress across the sprint events has also been notable. Reed set the national Under 20 100m record at the Olympic Games and followed it up with the Under 20 200m record at the Micronesian Games, continuing to build momentum across multiple disciplines.

“I am very excited to compete in this next competition, my nerves are high but my goal is to continue to improve and represent my country in a great manner” Reed said.

As the sole representative, Reed carries the Marshall Islands flag into Darwin, continuing the nation’s presence on the Oceania athletics stage.
