Kingston Running Festival Lights up Norfolk Island

Athletics Norfolk Islands hosted the inaugural Kingston Running Festival with over 130 participants from across Norfolk Island. The events on offer brought together participants of all ages, and walks of like with runners, walkers, corporate teams, friends and family all participating in the event.

The picturesque landscape provides the perfect back drop for the event that offered something for everyone under the theme Run, Race, Celebrate. The action-packed program featured the free- Community Colour Run, 2km Junior Dash, 5kmCorporate/Team Challenge, and 5km Kingston Challenge

Speaking to local news in Norfolk Island President Brentt Jones reflected on the success of the event.

“The inaugural Kingston Running Festival has been a fantastic success,” he said.

“Seeing runners of all ages and abilities come together, support one another and celebrate in Kingston has been incredibly rewarding.

“We are proud of everyone who took part and grateful to the volunteers, supporters and wider community who helped make this event possible.”

The program featured something for everyone; from the 5km Kingston Challenge, 5km Corporate/Team Challenge, 2km Junior Dash and the free Community Colour Run.

In the 5km Event it was regular winner of the Around Island Race Douglas Donaldson who took line honours in 18:52 ahead of Stuart Young and Louis-Alexander Desire. In the Women’s Race Sarah Young took the gold in 22:44, ahead of Louise Cullen and Margaux Lemercier.
