Potts Classic 2022 Preview

Potts Classic 2022 Preview

The Potts Classic kicks off the 2022 Continental Tour Series, as the first ever Challenger Meeting. The Continental Tour will be expanded in 2022 to include 4 levels, with the newly introduced Challenger Level, which was the previous Area Permit Meets.

The Continental Tour includes 4 meets in Oceania in 2022, before criss-crossing the globe for meetings in all 6 continental areas.

The Womens sprinting will be a highlight, with new New Zealand Record Holder, Zoe Hobbs leading the field. She may not have it her own way, with Anna Percy, the former 400m Hurdler turned 100m sprinter, who went to 3rd all time behind Hobbs and Michelle Seymour in the NZ all time list of 100m with her 11.40sec run in December. Hobbs and Percy have faced each other 6 times, with Hobbs winning on all 6 occaisions, will it be 7th time lucky for Percy.

In the Men’s 100m, Tiaan Whelpton, who had a break out year, last year, will be looking to show he is the fastest man in New Zealand.

Head to Athletics New Zealand for a full preview of events.
