The 2020 World Athletics Continental Tour commences this weekend in Sydney and Auckland. The Continental Tour is a new series of meetings created by World Athletics. The Tour is divided into three levels – Gold, Silver and Bronze – whose status will be determined by the quality of competition, broadcast and prize money on offer. The three levels simplify the previous structure of the one-day meeting and ensure there is equality around the world.
Oceania is proud to be supporting, two Bronze and one Silver-level meeting in the first season of the new Tour. It is anticipated that the Tour will encompass more than 100 meetings from around the world.
The Continental Tour is an opportunity for athletes to showcase their talents and earn significant rewards, both through prizemoney on offer from the Tour and by ranking points which will be put towards qualification for major championships.
