First ever trail decathlon championships

Exciting things will be happening in the world of athletics in New Caledonia this Saturday, May 20th. They will be having the first ever trail decathlon championship in Noumea.

Athletes are coming from all over to be a part of this run. James Kuegler and Dulia Halliday will be coming in from New Zealand to compete. Emma Kraft will be coming in from Australia, and from Vanuatu two young men Thomas Tarroux and Kauptun Laly. Not to mention all the athletes from New Caledonia who will be participating in their home event. The course will run for 21 kilometres over hills and grassy terrain.

However, for those not ready for 21 km’s there is a mini trail which is 12 km. Along with the longer events there is a 5K and a kids trail which is 1.5 K. We are excited to see the course and to see how this trail decathlon championship will turn out and who will take home the gold.
