Commonwealth Games Day 5

We were treated to another exciting day of competition today at the Carrara Stadium.  Medals, personal bests and records galore.

Dani Stevens was the red hot favourite in the Women’s discus and showed why when she broke the Games record of 68.26 to take the gold medal.  In the men’s discus, Oceania is bursting with pride to see six Oceania athletes progress to the final, with representatives from Samoa, PNG, Fiji and Australia.  We can’t wait for the final.

Kurtis Marschall (Aus) had the crowd cheering for him in the Men’s Pole Vault where he won the gold medal.

Brooke Stratton (Aus) had an outstanding competition winning the silver medal in the Women’s Long Jump.

Rhiannon Clarke ran a great race to win the silver medal in the Women’s T38 100m for Australia.

Luke Mathews featured in an exciting finish which had the crowd roaring in the Men’s 800m to take the bronze medal for Australia.

In the Women’s 800m, exciting junior Keely Small (Aus) set a new U18 & U20 Australian record of 2.00.81.  Team mated Georgia Griffith also ran a PB of 2.00.73.  Brianna Beahan clocked a PB in the Women’s 100m Hurdle heats of 13.02.
