Celebrating athletics day
Last weekend Federations all around the Oceania Region setup and participated in “Celebrating Athletics Day”. An example is Nauru with a support package from OAA which contained wristbands balloons, Frisbees and a couple of other things, they provided a fun experience for all of the kids who attended. 2017 Mini games Preparation
Tomorrow a team of Australian Technical delegates from Athletics will be arriving in Port Vila. The Team will consist of Staff from the Oceania office including Geoff Gardener, Yvonne Mullins and also attending will be OAA’s Competition Manager Tom O’Shaughnessy. They have been appointed by the International Athletics Federation to assess Athletic Equipment that will to be used at competition venues and make sure that markings, linings and any other Athletic equipment meet requirements in preparation for the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu
IAAF Diamond League
Last week was the first round of the IAAF diamond league set in Doha where German Athlete Thomas Rohler won the Javlin with a throw of 93.90. Well done Thomas.
For results from this competition click here. Coming up in Shanghai is the second round out of twelve of the IAAF diamond league competitions. This round will be holding 8 Men’s events which will be the 200m, 800m, 110m Hurdles, 400m Hurdles, High jump, Pole vault, Long jump and Discus. For this round the will be holding 6 of the Women’s events will be 100m, 400m, 1500m, 5000m, Shotput and Discus. For more information click here.
Trail Decathlon
Coming up in ten day is the trail decathlon which will be held in Noumea New Caledonia. A highlight of this event will be that the OAA Competitions manager will be competing in this event.
