PNG NEWS: Two National Records and a New Graduate

Peniel Richard: PNG Record

Peniel Richard achieved the rare distinction of setting two National Records in one day last Sunday.

Competing in the Lone Star Conference Championships at his home ground at West Texas A&M, Richard won the triple jump competition by some margin with a 15.59m effort, an improvement of 5cm on his own National record. He followed this up later in the day with a long jump of 7.26m to improve his record by 3cm.

It was a great weekend for the West Texas A&M mens team as they won the Conference Championships for the first time in the history of the programme, with the highlight being a mind blowing NCAA Div 2 All Time Record of 20.13 seconds in the 200m by their Ghanaian Sprinter Benjamin Azamati.

PNG Athlete Wesley Logorava  has Graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Human Performance from Union College , Barbourville, Kentucky .

A member of the 2015 Pacific Games Gold Medal winning 4*100m relay team, Wesley also represented PNG at the 2017 Pacific Mini Games and 2018 Commonwealth Games.  Wesley transferred to Union College in 2019 from Cloud County Community College. Fellow New Ireland Athlete and schoolmate Esther (Simon) Boram is pictured here with Wesley on his big day.
