Pacific Sports Partnerships – Nauru

Oceania Athletics Association traveled to Nauru last week to take part in the launch of the Community Athletics program. OAA are delighted to partner with Nauru Athletics Association (NAA) to deliver the program which is supported by the Australian Government’s Pacific Sports Partnership (PSP) Program. This is the second time OAA have partnered with NAA to deliver a PSP project.

During the visit OAA met with Nauru Athletics Association, the Australian Government, Nauruan Community Leaders, Nauruan Government Organisations, and several other stakeholders seeking support and guidance on ways to promote community inclusion through the delivery of a sporting program.

The week ended on a high note, with the launch of the Community Athletics project. NAA, with the support of athletics community sporting leaders, delivered a highly successful first day which saw 50 children participated in seven activity stations. OAA are excited to work with NAA over the coming months and look forward to seeing the Nauruan community embrace the program and the many benefits of participating in athletics.

OAA would like to acknowledge the continued support of the Australian Government through the Pacific Sports Partnerships (PSP) Program.
