The Fly Solomon Half Marathon

The Fly Solomon Half Marathon

The Fly Solomon Half marathon organized by the Solomon Airlines and Travel Solomon was arranged last Saturday in Honiara and everyone who took on the road really enjoyed the morning. This event was last organized in 2012 and after nine years it was again resurrected in collaboration with the Athletic Solomon for technical areas to be guided. Next year it will be organized in August 6th to mark the 80th Anniversary of the battle on Guadalcanal. This will be noted to be in the Athletic Solomon’s calendar for next year 2022.

The event organizers arranged the following: 2km, 5km, 10km and 21km. A total of 700 men, women and children took part in these events. The Athletic team was there to assist them in timing for 21km only. Most of the entries for 2km and 5km respectively for fun run.

The general outlook of the race was strong and competitive because we have a good number of athletes coming in from the Provinces to compete against the former and the veteran who also part of the event. We are walking up the stairs to track down new records and new athletes in these events.
