Podium Sweeps, 3peats, and Records on the final day of Glasgow 2026

2 August 2026 Oceania has closed out the athletics and para athletics program at the Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026 with a haul of gold medals, two podium sweeps and a Games record, on the biggest day of the six.

Kurtis Marschall goes back to back to back, completing the three-peat in the Men’s Pole Vault with a Games record of 5.85m. The Kiwi duo of Nick Southgate and James Steyn placed 7th and 8th respectively.

Jemima Montag also completed the three-peat in the Women’s 10,000m Racewalk, leading an Australian clean sweep of the podium alongside Elizabeth McMillen and Rebecca Henderson.

Oceania swept the podium again in the Women’s Mile, with Abbey Caldwell leading the Australian women to the medals. Jessica Hull took the silverware and Claudia Hollingsworth the bronze to round out the podium, the first time the Women’s Mile has been contested

Matt Denny completed his title defence, going back to back for gold in the Men’s Discus and winning the competition with his opening throw of 67.73m. Samoa’s Alex Rose narrowly missed the medals in 4th.

It was an Oceania one two in the Women’s Javelin, with Mackenzie Little claiming gold on a throw of 61.88m ahead of New Zealand’s Tori Moorby on 60.04m. Australian Lianna Davidson just missed the medals in 4th, throwing 57.61m.

Rhiannon Clarke completes her collection of Commonwealth Games medals, winning the T38 200m. Teenager Briseis Brittain crossed the line for the bronze, the duo split by England’s Sophie Hahn.

The Australian 4x100m team claimed gold in the final, the quartet of Kennedy, Azzopardi, Law and Browning, with Ius running in the heats, leading Canada and Nigeria across the line.

Ky Robinson backed up from his 10,000m gold to take silver in the 5000m, running 13:24.70. Aussies Jackson Sharp and Seth O’Donnell finished 9th and 16th respectively. Fiji’s Yesnil Karan ran a season’s best in 21st, Solomon Islands’ Leony Pusua a personal best for 24th, with Geejay Junion (SOL) just behind in 25th.

The distance medals continued with Luke Boyes taking silver in the Men’s 800m behind Jamaica’s Navasky Anderson. Peyton Craig and Peter Bol finished 6th and 7th respectively.

Cameron Myers took silver in the Men’s Mile behind Scotland’s Josh Kerr. Australia’s Oli Hoare placed 5th, Adam Spencer 8th, and Kiwi Samuel Tanner rounded out the Oceania group in 9th.

Brooke Buschkuehl returned to competition with a bronze in the Women’s Long Jump Final, behind Jazmin Sawyers of England and Nigeria’s Ruth Usuro.

Sam Rizzo stormed home to a bronze in the Men’s T54 1500m, behind the English duo of Nathan McGuire and Daniel Sidbury.

Matt Sheppard broke the Oceania Para record with 10.29m in the T57 Shot Put Final, placing 7th. Papua New Guinea’s Jerome Bunge placed 9th with a new personal best of 9.05m.
