Getting to the start line in Glasgow

Being selected to participate in the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland is no mean feat. While the athletes are training hard and making sacrifices to compete at this professional level, there are also the people behind the scenes who can help make their dreams of competing happen.

The dream for Mosese Foliaki (Tonga) and Waisake Tewa (FIJ) almost came to a false start when they were unable to board their flight in Nadi due to missing transit visa’s while they were in Australia for 3 hours. Instead of putting their heads in the sand, the OAA Headquarters flew into action to secure the boys their Australian transit visas and allow them to get to the start line.

With mere minutes to spare, the Australian immigration department sent through the granted visas and OAA’s travel agent (Pace Travel) reissued tickets so both athletes could start their journey to Scotland.

We congratulate all our athletes on their selections to the World Athletics Indoor Championships and wish everyone a safe journey and successful Championships.
