World Cross Country Championships

The world Cross country heads back to Africa for only the second time, this time, heading to Kampla, Uganda.

Oceania will have representation from Fiji (Senior Men) and Australia (Senior Men, Senior Women, Junior Men, Junior Women).

The championships will feature a new relay race, comprising a mixed gender (2 males and 2 females) each running one lap of the course (approximately 2km). With no Oceania representation, the race will be still interesting and fun to watch.

The Australian team is headlined by a strong Senior Men’s team. The team is led by Brett Robinson, who last year made the Olympic Final over 5000m as well the final over 3000m at the World Indoors. He has competed in the past two editions of these championships finishing 29th in 2013, and then 28th in 2015, and he will be hoping to improve on those positions in Kampla.

Patrick Tiernan, will be making his debut appearance at the World Cross Country. Patrick has excellent form over the past few years in this discipline, in his 4 years at Villanova University he only lost in NCAA competition 4 times, culminating in winning the championships in December 2016.

Fiji, will be represented by Avikash Lal, who will be making his second appearance at a world level for Fiji. He also represented Fiji in the previous edition of the World Cross Country in China, two years ago.
