The second running of the Oceania Trail Championships was held over the weekend just outside of Christchurch, New Zealand.
Following on from a successful first running in New Caledonia, this edition the distance was increased to that of 51km.
The race took place around the crater rim, just outside of Christchurch. With just over 100 runners taking the start line, and representatives from Australia, New Zealand and Tahiti running.
It was a local, Andrew Thompson, who took out the race in a time of 5 hours, 12 minutes and 30 seconds, 3 minutes ahead of Tim Wright, with Tahiti’s Lubin Thomas, rounding out the podium.
In the female’s race, it was a one-woman race, with Nancy Jiang, winning by 17 minutes, to Freyja Atkinson and Rose Pearson in third.
