Para Athletics

Pacific para-athletes hope to head in record numbers to the Tokyo Paralympics this year – including those from Vanuatu, Kiribati for the first time, Fiji, PNG, Tonga, Samoa, and the Solomon Islands. 20 + Athletes from seven Pacific nations are at the Queensland Athletics Championships in Brisbane

Oceania Athletics is proud to celebrate the female Athletes, coaches, administrators and members, throughout the region that contribute to our fantastic sport.
Collectively, we can all celebrate International Women’s day together by engaging with the international movement!

The IWD 2020 campaign theme is drawn from a notion of ‘Collective Individualism.’ Collectively, we can make change happen. Collectively, we can each help to create a gender-equal world. Collective action and shared responsibility for driving a gender-equal world are essential.

Now the dust has settled on the 2020 Jennian Homes New Zealand Track & Field Championships in Christchurch, we look back on ten learnings we took from three exhilarating days of action at Ngā Puna Wai.

  1. Lisa Adams progressing well, new WR and on track for Tokyo Paralympics
  2. Tom Walsh frustrated despite securing an 11th straight national shot title
  3. New Zealand is gaining more lustre as the land of throwers. Emerging Athletes achieving great results.
  4. Edward Osei-Nketia and Zoe Hobbs may be the rock stars of New Zealand sprinting, but the chasing pack are in red-hot pursuit.
  5. Hayden Wilde may be best known as a top-class triathlete, but he has all the tools to make a big impact as a runner.
  6. The emerging talent of Youth Olympic discus champion Connor Bell is perhaps currently the most exciting development
  7. Thrilling races delight with plenty of duals to take out the National Title.
  8. Younger generation of emerging men’s long jumping impressed at Ngā Puna Wai.
  9. Quentin is a genuine race walking star, showing no signs of slowing down

Distance runners from Simbu relocated at Utmei Secondary School in East New Britain Province.

Simbu distance runners Siune Kagl and Mary Tenge who were both medallists at the 2019 Pacific Games in Apia have relocated to East New Britain to join National Coach Bernard Manau at Utmei Secondary School. Full Story – PNG WEBSITE
