Chloe David is Sprinting for Vanuatu on the World Stage

Vanuatu’s Chloe David, the national u20 record holder in the 100m  National Record Holder in the 60m, will take her place on the 100m start line at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo (13–21 September 2025). Already experienced on major stages including the Olympics, World Athletics Championships, Oceania Championships, Pacific Games, she continues to push the boundaries for sprinting in the Vanuatu

David’s love for running began at a young age. “When I run I just feel so free,” she said. “My inspiration comes from my father. His never-ending support since I started running has made me fall in love with the sport even more.”

Representing Vanuatu is a source of immense pride. “It is truly an honor to be representing my country,” she explained. “As I step out onto the international platforms I hold Vanuatu’s flag high with so much pride, representing the people and young Pacific athletes with dreams of representing their country.”

Her preparation for Tokyo has been boosted by training in Fukuoka, Japan, alongside fellow Pacific athletes as part of the ONOC Partnership Program. The experience has provided the perfect environment to fine-tune her performance and prepare for the world stage.

Heading into the Championships, David’s goal is clear: to run a personal best. “I’m excited to compete with any athlete that I’ll be lining up against, because I know all of them are the best from their respective countries,” she said.

Away from the track, Chloe is equally determined in her academic pursuits. She is studying law at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji, with a minor in international business and marketing.

Chloe’s advice to the next generation of Pacific athletes: “Never stop believing in yourself and in your dreams. And always keep your faith in the Lord.”
