Leadership

  • Gender

The Gender Leadership program recognises the importance of leadership to the growth and development of Member Federations, especially identifying the gender balance and the diversity that brings, it’s important that programs are available to deliver across this area of education. World Athletics has created the Leadership Program in order to achieve a uniformed approach to delivery and content.

The goal of the Leadership Program is to improve the quantity and quality of leaders (specifically women and other areas of under representation), support leadership development and encourage opportunities to progress around the world and; to enhance the overall profile of World Athletics.

The objective of the program is to provide participants with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to empower them to apply and to take on leadership roles within their Member Federations, Area Associations and World Athletics. By developing and empowering the individuals to achieve their own potential it will in turn strengthen athletics at all levels.

  • Youth

The Forum brings together highly motivated young adults, who are involved in sports and looking to evolve it further. The participants have an opportunity to share their experience, build friendships, and learn from their peers and leaders in the sport.

This course provides training to young individuals who wish to evolve their knowledge as a leader and to empower them to take leadership roles in their respective Athletics Member Federation/Club.

This is an opportunity for highly motivated young adults who are involved in Athletics to share their experiences, build friendships and evolve into well rounded leaders.

The practical component will be integrated into one of the Athletics meets held at the same time as the Youth Leadership Forum, this offers a practical setting where participants can network and learn together in real life situations.

The Forum promises to maximise sharing and emphasise collaboration. Daily team challenges and exciting topics keep things lively and fun. The Future Leaders’ mission is to promote volunteer work and grassroots projects in athletics to help members develop themselves and make valuable contributions to sport and their local communities.
