David Benjimen Honoured with OAA Merit Award for Outstanding Service to Vanuatu Athletics
The Oceania Athletics Association (OAA) has proudly recognised David Benjamin of Vanuatu with a 2025 OAA Merit Award, celebrating a remarkable journey from elite athlete to dedicated leader, coach, and administrator.
David first captured attention on the track when he claimed victory in the 400m invitational at the 2001 Oceania Cup, quickly establishing himself as one of Vanuatu’s rising stars. Over the years, he went on to represent Vanuatu at both the Oceania Championships and Pacific Games.
Following his competitive career, David transitioned into coaching. His guidance and mentorship have led Vanuatu athletes to shine both on home soil and international stages. Known for his humility and hands-on approach, he has been instrumental in nurturing emerging talent.
