OAA Life Membership – Trish Kinnane

Trish Kinnane – Australia has left an indelible mark on both athletics and education through decades of service, leadership, and mentorship. At the OAA Congress in the Cook Islands, Trish Kinnane was awarded Life membership

From 1995 to 2000, Trish was the Team Manager for Australian junior teams at international events. She led teams to the World Junior Championships in Sydney (1996), Annecy (1998), and Santiago (2000). She also helped manage Australia’s first team at the World Under-18 Championships in Poland (1999) and led the Oceania team at the World Cup in Madrid (2002).

Trish has worked as a dedicated official at many levels of athletics with international highlights including:

  • Call Room Judge at the Sydney 2000 Olympic
  • Chief Judge at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.
  • Competition Secretary for the 2001 Goodwill Games in Brisbane.

Trish has supported athletics across the Pacific, officiating at the Pacific Games, Mini Games, and Micronesian Games between 2005 and 2022. She led training for officials in Oceania and helped Member Federations and meet officials learn and grow.

Dedication to Athletics has been recognised across the years with the following awards received:

  • Athletics Australia Platinum Pin in 2010 for 40 years of service
  • Oceania Athletics Merit Award in 2012
  • Australian Sports Medal in 2000
  • In 2023, a Life Governor of Australian Athletics.

Trish Kinnane’s passion, leadership, and mentorship have shaped generations of athletes and officials across Oceania. Her well-deserved recognition as a recipient of the Oceania Athletics Association Life Membership Award honours a truly remarkable legacy.
