Palau’s 2025 National Athletics Championships delivered two days of competition and personal bests, serving as a key preparation event for athletes and officials ahead of the Pacific Mini Games.

Despite a rainy start, the weather cleared to reveal the newly refurbished track at the Palau National Stadium ready for the two days of competition.

Olympian Sydney Francisco made a long-awaited return from injury, claiming the women’s 100m title in an emotional comeback ahead of Teriana Chinn and Lloise Dominique Borres.

In the Men’s 100m National Championship Tyson Chinn took line honours with Gian Angjelo Maluchluw, and Ali Kwak taking the minor placings.

The Championships also saw strong representation from Masters athletes, highlighting the region’s growing commitment to lifelong participation in athletics. Their presence amplified the visibility of Masters Athletics across Micronesia. The track races were the most popular amongst the Masters age groups, from 60m through to the 800m Race Walk.  

The final event of Day 1 under lights, the 4x400m relay, brought the grandstand to its feet as the Palauan teams racing for gold. Palau team C crossing the line to take win.
