Going the Distance – First National Championships Awarded for 2025

New Zealand 10,000m Championship  – 18th January  

At the picturesque TET Stadium Inglewood athletes set off on 25 laps for the New Zealand 10,000m Championship.

Lisa Cross returns to the top step of the podium in 33:47.23. The 2024 New Zealand 10km Road Champion, Eva Pringle taking home Silver in a time of 34:55.25.

The Men’s Race sees a new Senior National Champion on the books, with Toby Gualter taking Line honours in 29:08.72. Running in home ahead of Eric Speakman, and Oska Inkster-Baynes.

French Polynesia – Polynesia 5km Championships – 18th January

Over 100 Participants took the track and streets surrounding Punaruu Stadium for the Polynesian 5km Championships

Triathlete Benjamin Zorgnotti took line honours for Central Sport. Aurélie Steelandt of VSOPXP won the Women’s Race, and Polynesian Champion title.

The club awards saw Central Sport take home the overall prize for their collective efforts on the day.
