Weekend Preview – New Zealand 10,000m Championships
Taranaki sees New Zealand’s distance running talent take on 25 laps for the first National Championships in 2025.
On January 18, track fans in New Zealand will be treated to a showcase of distance running over 25 laps. The 10,000m Championships marks the longest track championship on the Athletics New Zealand calendar and will see National Champions, and New Zealand representatives from across all distances, take to track at TET Stadium in Inglewood.
Event Details – 18th January 2025
- Venue: TET Stadium, Inglewood, Taranki, New Zealand
- Events: Junior and Senior 10,000m New Zealand Championships. The event will also host Invitational 2000m, 3000m Race Walk and an Open 800m.
Athletes to Watch
Senior Men’s
- Julian Oakley: 2024 Silver medallist and 2x National Champion in 10,000
- Eric Speakman: 2024 Oceania Athletics Championships Representative in the 10,000 and 5000m.
- Toby Gaulter: Returning to New Zealand after studying in the US, Toby will be on the hunt for his first New Zealand Senior title.
Senior Women’s
- Lisa Cross: The 2019 and 2020 Champion over 10,000m. Current NZ Mountain Running Champion in 2024.
- Eva Pringle: The current NZ 10km Road Champion and 3000m Steeplechase Champion.
- Emily Roughan: Local favourite and World Cross Country Representative.
