Oceania is set to begin the 2025 World Athletics Continental Tour and World Athletics Race Walking Tour, spanning across Australia and New Zealand.
The tour meetings will welcome athletes from across the area, and the world providing them with a prime opportunity to qualify and gain ranking points for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo 2025.
The 2024 Tour meets were a successful for the area with WA Continental Tour Meetings in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, and World Race Walking Tour Events in Australia. Seventeen (17) Member Federations from across Oceania competed in the tour meets as well as Associate Member Federation athletes from New Caledonia. Papua New Guinea athletes made history with members of the mixed 4x400m team becoming the first Pacific Island Women to compete in a WA Continental Gold Tour Meeting.
The athletes took the 2024 meetings as opportunity to shine rewriting many Area Records on both the track and road amongst their point scoring performances on the Road to Paris 2024.
New Zealand will begin the Tour Meetings in Whanganui for the Cooks Classic in what is an exciting weekend of athletics in the Oceania. The Bronze labelled Cooks Classic begins a run of five Bronze label meets in New Zealand.
The Maurie Plant Meet will complete the Oceania leg of the Tour Meetings at Melbourne’s Lakeside stadium. The thrilling night of athletics will be the first Gold Labelled meet in the Global calendar for 2025.
A line-up of thrilling events, across Australia and New Zealand will be sure to excite athletics fans in 2025.
