The Senior Men’s Long Jump was a great contest between the winner Liam Adcock (AUS – 8.05m) and Henry Frame (AUS – 7.82m windy) in second place. Henry has been producing top quality Long Jump performances for well over a decade. It is good to see him still in a highly competitive mode. The top Islander in this event was PNG’s Decathlete, Karo Iga who jumped 6.86m. Karo won the Decathlon at the 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara.
Fiji gold medal winner in the Hammer Throw in Honiara, US-based Deborah Bulai, was not up to the same standard as she reached in Honiara, but she did claim the bronze medal in the Hammer with a throw of 55.01m. Now she has become part of Team Fiji, look to her for big things in future Games and Oceania Championships.
There were only three entered in the U16 Women’s Triple Jump, and they were all from French Polynesia. The winner was Sarah Watha with a windy jump of 11.02m. She was well clear of teammate Hailey Gilroy who jumped 10.15m.
