Meet Rachel: Gaining Hands-On Experience at Oceania Athletics as a Sport Development Intern
Rachel Solomon is a final-year student at Griffith University, currently completing her practicum internship at the Oceania Athletics Association (OAA). She is working towards a Bachelor of Sport Development and Business while gaining hands-on experience with a leading athletics organization in the Oceania region.
Outside of her studies, Rachel is passionate about football (soccer). She is working towards becoming an elite match official and continues to play the sport. In addition to her sporting commitments, Rachel works part-time as a supervisor at Woolworths.
When asked about her excitement to intern at Oceania Athletics, Rachel shared, “I am super excited to have the opportunity to be an intern at Oceania Athletics, as I am eager to contribute my passion and skills in the sport industry. I am excited to develop industry-based knowledge across different sporting codes and assist with athlete administration duties.”
Rachel is especially looking forward to gaining practical experience, which she views as crucial for her professional journey. “I look forward to developing my skills professionally and personally, understanding workplace culture, and creating genuine connections,” Rachel’s internship at OAA marks an important step in her journey toward a career in sport development.
We look forward to having Rachel learning with us as administrative and development activities build as we lead up to the Oceania Cup in Tonga.
