Masters Virtual Competition 2025
Over the past few months, Oceania Member Federations have been actively promoting and hosting Masters athletics competitions within their own regions. These events have not only provided competition opportunities but have also fostered camaraderie, fitness, and cross-generational participation in athletics.
From Darwin, to Saipan, and everywhere in between, the enthusiasm for Masters athletics has been steadily growing.
In the Northern Marianas, a series of well-orchestrated competitions helped gradually build participation. Athletes were encouraged to try various events and bring friends along, creating an inclusive and festive atmosphere. By the final day, more than 20 athletes were in attendance—a significant milestone for the territory.
Athletics NT hosted their event at the Arafura Stadium in Darwin, delivering a high-quality competition experience with strong participation across age groups.
The series concluded in Rarotonga, Cook Islands, where Athletics Cook Islands staged an exciting meet for both local athletes and delegates attending the Oceania Athletics Association (OAA) Congress. The blend of sport and international gathering brought energy and visibility to the Masters community.
The oldest competitors being Nola Brockie and Michael White, both over 80 years of age, showing that athletics is a sport for all ages.
Across all competitions, 103 athletes from 20 countries took part in the series. The events showcased a blend of competitive spirit and personal achievement, proving that age is no barrier in athletics.
This season’s Masters competitions underscored the growing enthusiasm across Oceania and laid a strong foundation for future growth in the region.
Athletes will be eligible to receive a certificate, highlighting their performances. They will be sent out to the respective MFs who organised competitions to present.
