Congratulations Patricia Taea on the Sportswoman of the year award!

100m and 200m sprinter Patricia Taea has received the award on Sunday 19th March for her outstanding performances in 2016. Living and training at the High Performance Training Centre on the Gold Coast, she broke the National Record over 100m multiple times with a current PB of 12.19s and also represented Cook Islands at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The event was attended by four-time World Champion and two-time Olympic Gold Medallist Dame Valerie Adams, who was the guest speaker at the annual event. She talked about her life as an athlete, her Olympic Games experience and gave tips on how to juggle personal and professional life.

Technical Official of the year: Teautoa Peua – Netball
Sport Administrator of the year: Michelle Paiti – Football
Coach of the year: Horst Miehe – Swimming
Best Administrated Outer Island Sports Association: Rakahanga Sports Association
Best Outer Island Sports Achievement: Regina Potini, Aitutaki Sports Association
