Fijian Collaboration for Para Athlete Workshop

Fijian Collaboration for Para Athlete Workshop

Athletics Fiji, in collaboration with Fiji Paralympic Committee and World Archery Fiji, hosted a 2-day workshop at FNCDP headquarters in Suva, Fiji.

Para athletes from all different backgrounds and sports were inspired by the words of London Paralympic Gold Medallist Iliesa Delana. Iliesa, who is the Assistant Minister for Youth and Sport, discussed the influential role sport has had on his life and how it helped him to achieve a successful career in his life post retirement. The newly appointed President of the Fiji Paralympic Committee (FPC), Shenaz Voss, and FPC board member and former Fiji TV News anchor, Sakiusa Bolaira illustrated their commitment to driving para sport in Fiji.

Also, in attendance, was Oceania Athletics Project Manager and Paralympian Carlee Beattie. Carlee highlighted the importance of supporting the development of para athletes in Fiji and reiterated that OAA will support in any way they can.

The second day of the workshop included activities lead by World Archery Fiji and Athletics Fiji. The workshop was a great success – para sport has a bright future in Fiji.

Thank you to Athletics Fiji, Fiji Paralympics and World Archery for running a great workshop and to the Australian Government for their continued support through the Pacific Sports Partnership Program.
