Pacific Mini Games
Monday the 4th of December marked the start of the Pacific Mini Games. Opening with a spectacular Show showing off all that Vanuatu has to offer and introducing all of the participating Federations. The games are currently in their 3rd day with results already on their website.
Joanna Stone Shield Competition
Last weekend the athletes living at Oceania house competed in the Joanna Stone Shield Competition where the athletes performed very well.
Nazmie-lee Marai (PNG) stopped the clock at 21.53s in the 200m, recording a new Personal Best and proving to be a hot medal contestant at the Pacific Mini Games next week.
Patricia Taea broke her own National Records for Cook Islands again clocking 11.97s in the 100m and 24.39s in the 200m. This is the first time Patricia has run under 12 seconds in the 100m, which was a goal that her coach Tony Fairweather had set for this season (former PB: 12.18s). The improvement was even bigger in the 200m improving by 0.4s.
With these promising performances the athletes seem to be in their best shape for the Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu.
Jessica Peris (AUS) also rounded the day out with double PBs in the 100m (11.63s) and 200m (23.31s) which is also a Commonwealth Games B qualifier and promises that there might be a lot more to come in the next competitions.
These are the results of some serious hard work.
